I wonder if anyone knows about real location (as we know, he was depicting actual places). It's the same place as Quiet haven, only without the bridge). I wrote to Tretjakov gallery, but I didn't get the answer. Anyway, any information about the painting would be of much value to me!! Thanks!!
leilame@gmail.comTarkhanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12063803353058994240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36579440.post-44320508739681452252008-05-15T16:59:00.000-07:002008-05-15T16:59:00.000-07:00These are so damn beautiful and inspirational . T...guys, I just checked the book i have on Levitan. The painting ( 10, here ) of a defrosting farm with the quiet horse has been the trigger that first got me into his works. He died of some sort of lung infection, quote :" sometimes i breath like a fish out of water" - I think i remember reading he suffered from a weak constitution most of his lifetime.
Great paintings, great vast open spaces.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36579440.post-33565582966760029402007-06-10T13:06:00.000-07:002007-06-10T13:06:00.000-07:00It is EXTRAORDINARY!!!!!!!!!!!!I fell of from my c...It is EXTRAORDINARY!!!!!!!!!!!!I fell of from my chair when i read your comment Michel! It is especially strange that I've found the book about Levitan recently. Wikipedia says `A terminal disease´. Would you know what it was?

It is astonishing that such a short and difficult life should produce such beauty. He's one of the best in my view.

Who shall we do next? Yakovlev? Roerich? Goryushkin-Skoropudov?Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12359704294707762796noreply@blogger.com
